Wowie Trap...that ice looks like steel. Very cool(no pun intended!) the water looks a bit chilly. Does it stay cool even in the summer. I bet it's beautiful when the flora comes back. Is it easy to get to for summer pics?
Thanks Kelly yes it's not that difficult to get to, it's about a 20 minute hike. It was a very unique site to see though. Trap

Way to go Ladybird, great job on the Bird, fence and sunset. All nice. As far as what you call a male ladybird, I'm not gonna get into that one. Trap How about "confused"? lol Mr. President....... at least that what Ladybird Johnson's male version was called. Steve No Presidents around here Steve!

#152 - this is the perigee full moon from the 29th January 2010. I only have a 200mm - must remedy that! I was trying to keep the sky blue and still show a little of the yellow brightness of the moon. WDYT? This is taken straight on - I am not tilting the camera and I haven't rotated the photo.
#153 - watching the moonrise over the eastern horizon. Yes, I blew the moon but I couldn't get a decent exposure for the rest of scene without doing that. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Great shots everyone.
SR, nice job on the moon. I've tried this several times and I keep getting a shot like your first one but the moon is blown out like is in your second one. I'll get it right sooner or later.
Brian, you know how to rock some HDR! Was this stright out of Photomatrix or did you enhance the clouds with photoshop?
Nic, crazy find with the shoes. There is a place about an hour from here where there 40-50 pairs tied together and thrown over a power line. We must get bored easy in the Midwest.

I knew something was different, just couldn't figure out what it was. I was wondering how you got the 3 shots without the tree on the right or the grass being blurry due to wind movement....so the foreground was just one shot but the sky was the typical 3-shot HDR. I didn't even know that was a posibility. Very cool result.

ya thats why I ran the bottom half as a 1 exp I didn't like the motion blur in the trees.. once you have both files its just a matter of using layers mask to blend them
